Shah Hormuzd, or Hormizd, is shown sitting down dressed as a Qajar Prince. He has a shield under his right arm and a swing resting on his knees. It is not known which one of the Sassanid kings named Hormizd is depicted here by an unknown miniature painter. This work which was painted in the early 1800's is currently housed at the British Museum in London.The Qajar Dynasty was a royal family of Turkic descent who ruled Persia. The Qajar family took control of Iran by deposing Lotf 'Ali Khan, the last of the Zand dynasty after which Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar was formally crowned as shah.
